Walker Tracker has a wonderful team and we’re proud to say we’ve added another amazing staff member. We’d like you to meet Adam Bailey our new Full Stack Developer. Adam is working with our Dev team to continue to build exciting Walker Tracker features. Say hello to Adam!
I am married and have 2 sons, 9 and 11 years old.
I have been a professional musician for about 25 years, playing drums in local bands and giving private lessons. Before starting as a software developer, I had worked as a pizza cook and a printer repair technician. I am very interested in local history, and one of my first projects as a developer was building a website for my family history.
How long have you lived in Portland?
I was born just over the Columbia River, in Vancouver, WA and have lived in the Portland area my entire life. My earliest relatives moved to this area in 1888, and my family still lives on that land.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy woodworking and playing piano and percussion. I have a wood lathe in my garage and make bowls (and drumsticks!). I have also been refurbishing my great grandfather’s hand tools from the 1920’s and using them on small woodworking projects. Working with wood and playing music helps to declutter my mind and feel more at one with the world!
Do you have a fun fact you would like to share about yourself?
My oldest son has autism, and I work to know more about how his mind works and how he makes sense of the world. It has not been easy, but I have learned so much about other people through being a father to my son, by understanding that everybody’s minds work differently. It is my goal to help him be a valuable member of society using the gifts he has, regardless of his challenges.
How do you like to stay active?
I love to walk! I walk through historic areas of town and try to imagine what those areas used to look like. Walking also helps me to organize my mind and stay calm. I have also recently learned how to juggle, which has helped with upper body exercise.
