Welcome Edward Vielmetti and Brian Kerr

Walker Tracker has grown since I started it on a lark a year and a half ago as a little project with which to goad my family members and friends into walking more. My friend David and I were the only ones on the site for a while. There are over two thousand members from all over the planet now, all who found their way here with very little guidance from me. Excepting a few adwords here and there, I’ve done very little to promote the site, but during this growth of my pet project, I’ve become steadily aware that there just might be something else to this.

For this reason I’ve asked two long term Walker Tracker members, bkerr (avg: 7,290) and edwardvielmetti (avg: 9,717) to join me in helping expand Walker Tracker in a meaningful way. They belong to the Ann Arbor, Michigan contingent (you’ll notice there are quite a few Ann Arborites on the site), and I’m very excited to have them help move the site forward. You can read more about them on their blogs (Ed / Brian)

Two weekends ago I flew back to Michigan and spent an intensive weekend with them. I drank coffee in half a dozen cafes, experienced rain that no one in a hollywood effects studio would ever simulate for fear of it seeming excessive and unrealistic, and was made a plastic pancake by Ed’s two year old. I left feeling very excited about the direction here. We have a lot of great plans for Walker Tracker, as a community and as a potential business.

So here’s a great thank you to those of you who have stuck around. There’s a few more of us here now making sure that the lights stay on and tinkering away on the secret projects in the basement.

Oh, and hey, we have a blog!

I am so happy that you have made this site. I searched for a long time to find a site that could help motivate me to keep up the stepping and this one truly has! Keep up the good work, we all love what you have done with the site in the past and I can not wait to see what you have in store for us in the future! :)

Hey could you let a two-year-old turn you into a plastic pancake?

Seriously, thanks so much for Walker Tracker. Now that I know that it’s a labor of love, I’m tempted to start arm-twisting everyone I know to get a step counter and join.

I am looking forward to the day when I can say, “I joined Walker Tracker back before it was famous!!”

Glad to hear that things are looking good. And can’t wait to see what the future holds. You do wonderful work, Ben. And now with Ed and Brian at your side (figuratively) there is nothing that can’t be accomplished!

    Way to go!

I learned of this site from by sister Andrea and her myriad websites. I walk in awe of your creative prowess, gentlemen, eager to see to what heights of greatness your website may achieve.

I was introduced to this site by my daughter. Her nagging and this website have been so extremely helpful to me - I now walk every day, almost without fail. Seeing my group’s progress and everyone else’s has kept me motivated. When I know how many steps I’ve taken and have a goal to strive for and record, I think it helps tremendously. Thank you, Ed and friends!

Whoops. I meant Ben and friends! Thank you!

My route to Walkertracker was overhearing Ed V. and other discussing it at lunch. I was already (since early May) wearing a pedometer and tracking my steps in an Excel spreadsheet, so it was a natural for me. I asked Ed to send me the link.

Congratulations and thanks so much! I had fallen a little off the bandwagon, then I received my 2 million-step card and tennis shoe from Christine — and I just have to keep putting one step in front of the other… Thanks guys!
