Well, it wouldn't be the first time Google Maps missed something :))
Ben - are you basing some of your new writing on google earth???
Interesting. One relative is a missionary and sent out co-ordinates for island she is on. Location got out on public site, and island was deleted from view. Missionary safety is a huge concern.

@texastracking - I'm not, though I do use the service frequently. My new book seems to take place exclusively in Portland, OR.
and writing it in Brazil - makes sense to me! summer in Brazil is less wet and cold than winter in Portland.
Truthfully it's a bit of a mystery to me as well.

It's so strange looking because nothing around it is imaged that well -- and it looks like they partially missed the island. Looking closely at it is sort of spooky, actually.
