No Monday morning feeling for me!  Bank Holiday, so no work!  Last official holiday before Christmas.  I've booked a week off work in Sept.  No cruise this time, unfortunately.  Am staying with DS Dave in Canterbury for a few days while DH catches up on stuff he wants to do at home - Dave & him don't get on and he prefers to be on his own anyway.

Will go for a run in a bit.  Then visit parents - didn't get to go yesterday & they're going away on Thursday
so want to catch up with them before they go.

After that - who knows.....?

Wet again - but supposed to get better for the weekend.  Speaking of which, it's a long one!!!  Bank Holiday on Monday.  Just have to get through Friday..........

My weekend challenge - lose 0.4 by Sunday for prize of free gym session & keyring.  "Lose 10# by 29th" was Chris's challenge - I've lost 9.6!  So close!

Had 4 choc Brazils after lunch.  The chocolate tasted SO sweet - not sure that I even liked it..........that would be a first!

Walk at lunch, but too cold & miserable to be out for too long.  Needed some extra steps to burn off that apple & raspberry Danish pastry DH bought me.......ate it as brekkie to alleviate the guilt factor a bit.

Where's the summer gone?  Overcast, damp....and cold!  High of 16 today and rain is forecast.

Steps have been a bit low of late - need to work on that one today. 

Few errands at lunch - pick up keys for job this afternoon, road tax for Steve's van & to m & S for milk so my guys can have a cuppa later. 

Having trouble with new iPod Touch; can't sync it to wireless internet at home - won't recognise password for some strange reason.  Works OK on work internet, but not home.  Strange.....

D-Day for Johnny.  He can go to school from 10 o'clock onwards to pick up his GCSE exam results.  Then he will spend the rest of the day celebrating/commiserating with his mates.  Needs 'C' or above in Maths & English to be able to get on a heating & plumbing course.  Will have to rethink his options if he doesn't get the grades.  I promised him £10 per grade C or above that he gets as an incentive to get him to work harder.  He did his IT exam last year & got a 'C' so he's got a tenner in his pocket already.

A new baby daughter for the Prime Minister........wasn't due til September.

I have a week in which to lose 2lbs.  That'll make a 10lb loss - which was the challenge laid down by Chris from the gym.  Lose 10# in 4 weeks (1-29th).

C25K progress - Managed to run to railway bridge at Riverhead.....not quite enough oomph to run ALL the way back, so walked some.  Further than I've 'run' before - 2.76 miles = 4.44km

Mum said the trip to Ypres was very moving.  She managed to find her uncle's name on the memorial & left flowers beneath it.  35,000 names on the Memorial to the Missing at Ypres - and there were further grave for those they found.

Lovely bright sunny day!  Plus, steps and weight are looking good - what could be better?

Walked round town at lunch - several laps of town centre - covered 1.7 miles.  Took boots in to be repaired - the complete sole came off one of them yesterday.....had to secure it on with eleastic bands!!

Did a detox yesterday - just drank water or lemon & ginger tea from dinner time on Monday til dinnertime last night.  And it worked!!

Mum's going on a pilgrimage to Tyne Cot Cemetery today (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyne_Cot).  Her uncle (her mum's brother) was killed in the First World War aged just 18.  They never found his body, so his would be one of the many unmarked graves.  His name appears on The Memorial to the Missing.  It's a trip she has been meaning to take for a long time.  She did a lot of research with a view of taking Nan to see it a few years ago, but other family things intervened and, unfortunately, Nan died before they had chance to go.
Apparently they still play the Last Post and Reveille at 8 o'clock every evening.  Very poignant.......

1.4 mile lunchtime walk - a few errands ......and just walking.

Only 4 of us hardy souls at gym class tonight.  I prefer it with just a few.  A good workout.

Airport strikes are off for now so Mark & Hannah should get to Portugal OK this afternoon.  If they do decide to strike, they have to give at least 7 days notice - so they'll get home safely too.

Weight not moved today - but I have already jogged 2.7 miles this morning; so hopefully that will help the scales for tomorrow.  Made it to the railway bridge & back - a little further each week!!  Had to run for 28 minutes - cheated a little & walked for a minute or so.....

Recovered sufficiently to get ironing done before going to parents'.  Mum's off to Belgium on Tuesday to visit the Tyne Cot Cemetery in Ypres (or Wipers as the soldiers used to call it) - now renamed Ieper by the Belgians.  Her uncle (her mum's brother) is on the missing soldiers' memorial and she wants to see it - they never found his body.....  She researched it a few years back with the intention of taking Nan over there as well.  But unfortunately my brother fell ill & died and Nan was never fit enough to make the journey before she died, so Mum never got the chance to go then.  She's now going with my niece (who is studying History & War) for an overnight trip to see the memorial to an uncle she never knew.

Another rainy weekend - August has been a bit if a washout so far - very gloomy.

Weekends are dangerous times for overeating - not good if I want to get to my goal by 29th - 6 to go in 2 weeks.  It can be done, especially if I continue to ignore that scrummy-looking choc cake in the fridge that DH bought......

Housework & laundry as per normal for a Saturday. Will visit sis & her DH later - celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary today.
