I'm a computer geek that spends to many hours in front of the screen.

I started with a Timex T5E011 Pedometer and that worked well for about 5 months but I broke the clip - now use a NL-800 and LOVE IT.

I started walking in July with it being a stretch to get 4,000 steps a day, I did daily minimum for any day I had 'dessert' (specialty coffee, actual dessert, candy, full sugar soda, beer) and add 1,000 steps to X each month until I get to 10,000. (I only added 250 a month in Dec/Jan so the cold/ice didn't scare me off).

Starting March 2008 I reached my goal of 10,000 AVERAGE steps a day, so can take some days off since doing monthly average. Now I'm tracking my waking path for imaginary travels

Update 1/2008 I've now walked over a million steps and from my house in Lawrence, KS to my god-daughters place in Champaign, IL

Update 4/2008 over two million now - have gone from Champaign up to Mount Prospect to visig my friend Bamm and then to Three Rivers Michigan to visit my best friend Connie and I'm about half way across Ohio

Update 7/2008 I've now reached Buffalo, NY for my next stop to visit Lana, I got a new high step day at EPCOT for 27,564 steps

Update 9/2008 Allergy season brought asthma and getting steps is much harder so I've reduced my expectation to 5000 steps per day.
